About Me

Photo of Sarah Lou

Hi, I am  Sarah Lou, I am a certified Couples Therapy and Counsellor and Member of  the International Association of Therapists (IOATH), certified by the Buehler Institute Psychological Services, Inc. in Sex Therapy and a Certified Dating Coach through the Hart Coaching Academy. I am trained in Rational Emotional  Behaviour Therapy (REBT).

I regularly undertake Continuing Professional Development accredited courses and recently completed a course offered by internationally acclaimed psychotherapist Esther Perel. I have studied Somatic Sexology; which is a hands-on approach to helping individuals and couples liberate their libido.

As a Coach, I am able to tailor which modalities to use and not be slavishly attached to any, I can therefore provide bespoke support to the individual. We are all unique and the coaching I offer honours that.

My Background

I achieved a First Class Hons Degree in Applied Social Sciences and a Post Graduate Certificate in Law.  I later qualified as a Solicitor and Family Law Mediator. The one overwhelming aspect of my early law career was witnessing the excruciating pain and struggles of clients whose relationships were sadly ending. Infidelity, sexual mismatching or just ‘growing apart’, these people were now communicating through lawyers instead of communicating with each other.

I decided to shift my experience and I qualified as a Foster Carer. I fostered teenage girls with a complex mix of struggles, including sexual trauma and related issues.

My interest in Sex Therapy ignited from many sparks. Having assisted individuals going through the pain of divorce;  supported young, damaged girls in my foster care as they grew into healthy high functioning, confident women  and worked  parents and their children who presented negative patterns of  behaviours, I realised my calling was to help support people at critical times in their lives. Fast forward and I am now a woman in my 50s and those sparks have become  a burning desire to help others hold a bright flame to their own lives.

Why Sex Therapy?

Because I am good at it! I find it easy to talk about intimate subjects and sex is as intimate as it gets. I am open minded, non-judgemental, and easy to talk to. There are no off-limit topics, no taboos and nothing that I haven’t heard before!

Coaching is by far the most rewarding way for me to assist individuals and couples elicit change where they feel change is needed. It provides a practical skillset for the individual to use for the rest of their lives.
